I've seen some news on this subject and i was cringing as i saw screws inserted in the patient's leg . It's very unfair and sad that Chinese judge themselves on height and that it can actually cost them a successful future (Chinese diplomats must be at least 5'3), marriage, and even to get a date. I know it's their culture (mine too), however, there are many short people in the world who are great and beautiful. The Chinese (as well as everyone else) should realize it's what's on the inside that counts

@ Jago - I wish there was something more to be said for ethics and morals, but money and incentives have to make sense if a healthcare is to be safe for patients. As for promotion, both C-sections and abortions are heavily promoted in China by hospitals. There is a trend to give discounts to students, both college and high school. As a result of the abortion marketing, in particular, many young women are learning to see medical intervention as a form of contraception.

It's a shame it always has to come down to money. It's no surprise that rates are increasing if someone is behind the scene, pocketed more profit. I think however that it has also become more en vogue, but has been promoted by those who make the profit?

Reason #11: Anti-biotics in China are used for everything and their effectiveness in dealing with STD's is weakening with each itchy groin they are forced to treat, as in, STDs are becoming resistant. So good luck with the drip and burn.
